The "Empower Our Future Speaking & Concert Series" is a multi-curtural movement created to inspire and uplift today's youth, our future leaders of tomorrow. We are not here to teach our children that they hold value. We are not here to teach our children that they are great. We are here to remind them that they've held infinite value their entire lives. We are here to remind them of their greatness! Our Keynote Speakers, and Performing Artists teach our children how to reconnect with themselves, find their inner confidence, and speak their truth.
Our youth have a voice and connect in ways that no other generation before them have even had an opportunity to communicate. They’re being raised with cell phones and tablets, have an Instagram page while they're still in middle school, and can't even remember a time before the Internet even existed. Traditional presentations and assemblies are missing their mark in youth engagement, and innovative events must be created and implemented on their platforms, and in their language if we want to make a difference in their lives. We can no longer “talk at them.” The Empower Our Future movement has garnered so much success because our speakers and performers understand the social media platform and make ourselves available to interact with our youth on their level, (i.e. Instagram, Snap Chat, and Facebook.)
Music has proven to be our greatest catalyst for inspiration, and, “For the first time in history, Hip Hop/R & B is the most dominant genre of music in The United States,” according to Forbes Magazine. Hip Hop is the new Rock n’ Roll. Nielson Music recently released a report, recording that for the “First time since Nielson started measuring music consumption in The United States, rock is no longer the top genre for overall consumption. In fact, Hip Hop is almost as popular on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music than the next two genres (rock and pop) combined.” Our goal is to show our youth that the Hip Hop genre can also have empowering messages, provide inspiration, and demonstrate leadership despite any negative circumstances they may be faced with.
This event consists of an entire presentation of motivational testimony of public speakers, intertwined with musical performances. The purpose is to reduce the number of youth that report being bullied, underage substance abuse, addiction, addictive behaviors, and recovery, as well as entertain, raise awareness, and educate our local communities about leadership, and the importance of identifying & communicating our feelings in healthy ways.
